Fantasy Rules
Version November 1, 2026 · Last updated: November 1, 2026
1. Free to play
VirtuaLeagues Fantasy is a fantasy game built on real Pro Clubs leagues: you manage a squad of the real players of a league and score points from what they do in their real matches. It is free to play. Joining an edition, your starting squad, lineups, the market, free packs and daily rewards cost only fantasy coins, which you earn by playing. Coins are virtual — never real money — and nothing in the game can be exchanged for money.
Each league runs its own edition with its own numbers. This page explains the rules every edition shares; the exact values (squad size, budget, lock times, pack prices, rank limits, scoring table) are on each edition’s own Rules screen inside the fantasy.
2. Your squad and the players
- The player pool is the league’s registered players. Each has a fantasy value and a rank family (Sunday Baller to Icon) that come from our rankings system
- A player can be fielded in the positions of the position group he has actually played in his recent real matches — forwards, midfielders, defenders or goalkeepers (his profile position when he has no games yet). A position in another group he has also played in is a “stretch” pick; goalkeepers only play in goal
- When you join, the edition deals you a random starting squad and a coin budget; you grow the squad to 11 starters plus a bench on the market
- Depending on the edition’s game mode, a player is owned by one manager at a time (Classic), by any number of managers (Collection), or by a limited number of copies (Limited)
3. How scoring works
- Points come from the real statistics recorded for the league’s matches (goals, assists, tackles, saves, clean sheets, and so on)
- A player scores with the rules of the slot you field him in: the same goal is worth different points to a forward, a midfielder, a defender or a goalkeeper slot. Every edition shows its scoring table
- Points are counted per match night. A night runs through the evening and closes early the next morning (Eastern time), so East-coast and West-coast kickoffs of the same evening count together
- Only your starters score; with automatic substitutions on, a bench player replaces a starter who did not play
- Some editions pay coins per point once a night is final; the amount, if any, is on the edition’s Rules screen
4. The market, offers and values
- A fresh market of players opens every day at the edition’s time. In Classic you bid with coins and the highest bid wins; in Collection and Limited you buy at the listed price
- You can sell players back to the game for a stated share of their value, list them for other managers and make or receive offers
- Player values move with performance: a good night raises a value, a poor or missed night lowers it, each within a cap the edition sets, never below a floor
- Where the edition enables them, release clauses let another manager buy one of your players for a multiple of his value; the coins go to you
- Some rank families may be capped per squad, barred from starting squads or from packs; unrated players never count towards a limit
5. Locks protect you
- Lineups lock shortly before kickoff (either the whole night at once or per match, as the edition sets). What is on the pitch at lock time is what scores
- A player you just bought or received is protected for a number of days: nobody can take him through a clause while the lock runs. Locks protect, they never trap: you can always sell, list or field your own players
- A squad lock before match nights may close the market for a few hours; offers between managers always stay possible
- A player who leaves the league keeps scoring nothing; you keep him for a grace period and can sell him for a stated share of his value
6. Packs, daily rewards and events
- A pack gives a stated number of random players you don’t own yet, drawn with the odds the edition shows. Coin packs are bought with fantasy coins; the edition may limit how many you open per week or in total
- Opening the fantasy every day climbs a ladder of free daily packs; a missed day may reset the streak, as the edition’s Rules say
- Classic editions may run event drops: free packs with special contents, announced with their odds, that you claim while the event lasts
- A pack slot that cannot be filled (no player left, no squad room) pays coins instead, within a stated range of the slot’s average value
7. Paid packs are optional
Some editions may also sell paid packs (Silver, Gold, Platinum) for real money, on the website only. Buying one is optional and never required to play or compete: everything a paid pack can contain can be obtained with coins. A paid pack shows its price, size and odds before you pay, keeps those odds once bought, and guarantees a card of at least a stated rank family. If no eligible player is left when you open it, it is refunded automatically; if your squad is full, it simply waits until you make room. Editions set a monthly spending cap and weekly limits per pack. The full rules are the Purchase Terms.
No prizes in a fantasy with paid packs. An edition that sells paid packs offers no prizes of any kind, and an edition with a prize pool cannot sell paid packs — the game enforces this both ways. Packs, cards and coins have no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold or redeemed outside the game.
8. Prizes, standings and the end of a season
- Most editions play for bragging rights. Where a league without paid packs offers prizes, they are listed on the edition’s Prize Pool page and are arranged and paid by that league, outside the site; VirtuaLeagues holds and pays nothing
- Standings are decided by total points; ties go to the manager ranked higher overall
- When an edition ends, its coins, cards and packs end with it. They never carry over and are never paid out
9. Fair play
One fantasy team per person per edition. Arranging real matches to favour fantasy squads, sharing accounts or using several accounts to move players or coins between them breaks the Terms of Service and leads to removal from the fantasy. League administrators run their edition and decide its settings; Virtualeagues runs the game itself.
